So far, my university experience has been incredible. I learned and experienced in 4 years, so many amazing stuff that I’d say it happened so quickly. As a teenager going to the University at 16, it was merely thrilling to begin another face of life.
Initially, I had plans to study law, but it had not been licensed when I got to the campus, which was very difficult to come to terms with, but I eventually decided to study another course. The process of course selection was quite tedious because it was difficult to pick one, as the only course I ever thought of was law.
Luckily, the Former Vice Chancellor, Prof. Igun, Director for academic planning Dr. Daniel Whawo and my father were there all the way. I finally decided to study accounting, even though I thought it was strange and definitely not a part of me. Slowly into my first year, it became a part and parcel of me, I must say I find joy and zeal playing with numbers.
Although my course load is intense, my courses are excellent and I enjoy them. In particular, auditing is very fascinating to me, perhaps because it includes a lot of numbers and requires thorough and precise documents.
My extracurricular activities range from the Nigeria university Accounting Student Association (NUASA), student fellowship, going to the gym and hanging out with friends. For me, the last 4 years has been a journey of self- discovery, filled with question and answers, determination and inspiration from new people and stories.
To sum up, Michael and Cecilia Ibru University (MCIU) has been a home away from home, a place where I have acquired skills and values that will help me prepare for the world beyond the four walls of the college.
